DeMarcus Cousins received a technical foul for throwing the shoe of Charlotte Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb. Now, the Golden State Warriors big man shared his thoughts on the matter.

Per Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Cousins — who finished with 24 points in his team's 121-110 victory — was sarcastic in his remarks.

“Next time I’ll step on the shoe, roll my ankle, break it and tear an Achilles. Just leave it out there next time. I guess that’s what they want. I’ll keep that in mind.”

Check out the clip of the actual incident as posted by ESPN.

Right after tossing the shoe out, the referee immediately called a technical foul on DeMarcus Cousins. Based on the clip, it seems Cousins' explanation was valid. The shoe was right in the middle of the court where some action was ongoing. Anyone could've stepped on the shoe and rolled his ankle.

After receiving the tech, Cousins immediately rushed to the referee and defended his case. He meant no harm at all. In fact, he was looking out for everyone's safety. But his words fell on the referees' deaf ears. They saw his antics as unnecessary, excessive, and even detrimental.

Maybe the league should also start giving technical fouls to players who will lose their shoe during games.
