DeMarcus Cousins says the Golden State Warriors are the most versatile team in the NBA and believes head coach Steve Kerr can mold the club into anything he wants it to be.

Cousins, who signed a one-year, $5.3 million free agent deal with the Warriors in July, is still recovering from his Achilles injury and isn't expected to suit up for the first half of the season. Golden State has won back-to-back championships and is favored to win the 2019 title as well. Cousins has the luxury of being able to take his time and not rush back from his ailment.

Some pundits have questions about Cousins' fit with the Warriors when he does return, but the four-time All-Star isn't worried because he knows the team is full of cerebral players.

“It’s a team full of high IQs,” Cousins told Brandon ‘Scoop B' Robinson on Scoop B Radio. “I believe everyone on our team has a very high IQ when it comes to the game of basketball. All of us know how to play the game of basketball. We got guys with the same characteristics that– it’s like play-doh. You can mold them into whatever you want them to be.”

Before getting injured with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, DeMarcus Cousins was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds in 48 games while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from three.

Kerr said in August he will not change his style of play despite adding Cousins to the roster. The Warriors push the pace on offense at every turn and move the ball side to side. The ball never sticks in Golden State. Cousins, meanwhile, often holds the ball as he surveys the floor from the post. Kerr said the Warriors will add a few plays into its playbook for Cousins, but won’t make any drastic changes.

“We’re not going to change our style of play,” Kerr told Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle. “We’ll definitely add a few plays for DeMarcus down on the block. But for the most part, we’re not going to change who we are.”
