Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said center DeMarcus Cousins is nearing his return to the court and will likely practice with the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors in the “next couple of weeks,” per Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News.

Cousins could also make his first pro appearance this season in the G League, as there is a “possibility” that the All-Star big man takes the court in game action for Santa Cruz.

Boogie has reportedly looked good in five-on-five drills alongside his Warriors teammates, with some even thinking he would be ready to play right now if this was a playoff scenario.

The G League would be an excellent way to tune up to his season debut at the NBA level, allowing him to get a bulk of minutes and see the state of his conditioning prior to joining the other four All-Stars on the court.

DeMarcus Cousins will likely be on some sort of minutes restriction when first welcomed back into the lineup, but he will soon have to ramp it up a notch as the season goes along, especially considering the Warriors have most likely lost former starter Damian Jones for the rest of the season due to pectoral surgery.

Golden State will still rely on Kevon Looney for the bulk of the minutes off the bench, while Jordan Bell soaks up whatever playing time is left as a third-string cog in the rotation.
