The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2018-2019 season. It was a tough couple of years, but the Warriors are nearly atop the summit of basketball once again. They have played extremely well this postseason, eliminating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of their Western Conference Finals Thursday night.

After the dust settled, Warriors superstar Draymond Green took a moment to reflect on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show.” During the episode, he pointed to all the haters who did not think this was possible, Colin Cowherd specifically.

Green included a clip from Cowherd's show, “The Herd” from May of 2021. Colin points to the idea that Golden State needs to trade Stephen Curry if they want to get back to the NBA Finals. The Warriors do not have the cap space to make all four contracts work with Curry, Green, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins. “You got to blow this thing up, it's over,” Cowherd said.

Green went on to say that it wasn't just Cowherd, but everyone thought that.

Oops. Clearly that take was way off base. Not only was he wrong, but the Warriors are back in the NBA Finals the very next season. Stephen Curry won the inaugural Earvin “Magic” Johnson Conference Finals MVP Trophy along the way.

Golden State will have home court advantage against whomever they play in the finals. The Boston Celtics hold a 3-2 lead over the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 6 is Friday night in Boston.
