Back when the San Antonio Spurs obliterated the Miami Heat in five games during the 2014 NBA Finals, guard Patty Mills played a pivotal role off the bench, averaging 10.2 points per game in the series and scoring 17 points while making five 3-pointers in the Game 5 clincher.

On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors got some key production from a bench guard of their own during their Game 2 NBA Finals win over the Toronto Raptors, as Quinn Cook scored nine points on three triples in 21 minutes.

Afterward, Warriors big man Draymond Green likened Cook's impact to Mills:

“Quinn Cook is our Patty Mills. He should be here for a long time,” said Green, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

Cook had a very solid regular season, playing in 74 games and averaging 6.9 points and 2.1 rebounds over 14.3 minutes per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor, 40.5 percent from 3-point range and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line.

He originally joined Golden State back in October 2017 and ended up appearing in 33 contests for the Dubs during the 2017-18 campaign, registering 9.5 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 boards across 22.4 minutes a night while making 48.4 percent of his field goal attempts, 44.2 percent of his long-distance tries and 88.0 percent of his foul shots.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at Duke, went undrafted but eventually saw his first NBA action with the Dallas Mavericks in 2016-17. He played in five games with the Mavericks that season before joining the New Orleans Pelicans for nine.

In these playoffs, Cook is recording 4.4 points per game and is making 40 percent of his treys.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals is on Wednesday night. The series is tied at one game apiece.
