The Golden State Warriors are now on top of the Western Conference standings, and the rich are about to get richer. The already loaded Warriors squad will get another boost with the return of DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins will make his much-anticipated debut for the Warriors against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. The 28-year-old center has not played since Jan. 26 of last year after sustaining a torn left Achilles.

Warriors forward Draymond Green, who was instrumental in convincing Cousins to join Golden State, is excited to have the All-Star center back. Green actually gave a stern warning to the rest of the league:

DeMarcus Cousins played in just 48 games for the New Orleans Pelicans last season. Before missing the remainder of the 2017-18 NBA season, the eight-year veteran averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. It remains to be seen how the major injury will affect Cousins, but his return is expected to make Golden State even more dangerous.

The Warriors have no legit post presence and are usually relying on Kevon Looney at center. While he is coming off a major setback, Cousins is still an obvious upgrade over Looney. The timing of his return could not have come at a better time, as the Warriors look like a team that is already shifting to next gear.

The Warriors proved they are still the kings of the Western Conference when they annihilated the Denver Nuggets, 142-111, on Wednesday. Before their high-profile showdown, the Nuggets were the top team in the West.

Following their win against Denver, Golden State had another statement win, 147-140, against the Pelicans on Wednesday night. Golden State holds a 31-14 record and is currently a game ahead of the Nuggets in the race for the top spot in the Western Conference.
