It’s just the first day of the new NBA season, but the injury bug is getting to work early. A few hours after Boston Celtics swingman Gordon Hayward went down with a gruesome leg injury, another star player was hurt with Golden State Warriors do-it-all forward Draymond Green suffering what is being reported as a knee strain while playing against the Houston Rockets.

Green hurt his knee late in the third quarter and promptly exited the contest. He went to the locker room afterward and wasn’t able to get back to the floor again.

The extent of Draymond Green's injury is not yet fully known but it was a non-contact injury that should keep plenty of Warriors fans’ fingers crossed, as they hope it’s not serious enough to keep the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year sidelined for long.

In case Green needs time off the court to recover, however, David West and rookie Jordan Bell will have to share minutes in trying to cover Green’s void.

Draymond Green’s injury gives the Warriors a double-black eye also, as Golden State lost to the Rockets, 122-121. Before leaving the game, Green nearly had a triple-double, posting nine points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.
