It was a special night on Sunday for the Golden State Warriors and their fans as Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return to basketball. Draymond Green, who is currently dealing with a calf injury, started the game in order to be alongside his teammate but immediately checked out after the tip-off.

Draymond explained why he made the decision to be on the floor for the moment that every Warriors supporter has been waiting for:

“I don’t think my calf injury is a big issue, but it was important for me to be out there for Klay’s first game back,” Green told The Undefeated. “I’ve been waiting on this moment for almost three years. I wanted to feel the energy, but more importantly, if he was going to walk out there and be there for this moment, I was going to do it.”

The good news is that Green isn't dealing with any serious injury. It's totally understandable why he wanted to be a part of Klay's big night. After all, Thompson was such a crucial part of the Warriors' dynasty and will be important again as they chase a title in 2022. Draymond has played 34 of a possible 39 games this season, proving to be key to their success on both ends of the floor.

As for Thompson, he didn't miss a beat in his first appearance in two and a half years. The sweet-shooting guard dropped 17 points in 19 minutes of action and also went 3 for 8 from long range.

The Warriors' Big 3 are back. Watch out.
