Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green admits he “failed” Stephen Curry with his performance in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

The Warriors lost the game 120-108, and Green was largely non-impactful. He fouled out of the contest and finished with just four points and five assists. He did have 11 rebounds, but he committed three turnovers and went 0-of-4 from deep.

During Friday's episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show,” the Warriors vet owned up to his shortcomings towards Steph–who had a monster 34-point game–and vowed to be better.

“When I look back at the game, I failed him because I didn’t play well,” Green said, per NBC Sports. “And when he comes out guns blazing like that, playing the way he’s playing, I have to make sure that I do my part to make sure that ends in a win.”

Draymond Green, however, emphasized that he is encouraged by Stephen Curry's performance. After all, it is easy to imagine what the Warriors can do once the rest of the team around Curry starts clicking.

“But the way Steph Curry got out to that start was very promising. And I think we’ll start to see more of that. And myself and other guys can help and make sure that continues.”

It is definitely great that Green is aware he's a big reason why they lost Game 1 against the Celtics. Hopefully, though, he learned his lesson to help the Dubs bounce back.
