In preparation for the Golden State Warriors' playoff push, forward Draymond Green was determined to get in shape. He has dropped a total 25 pounds over the last two months, and he detailed how he did it to ESPN's Rachel Nichols:

“It's something that I knew I needed to do. It took a lot of mental focus, more so than anything, willpower,” Draymond Green said. “I gave up candy, I love potato chips. I gave up chips … Cookies ‘n' Creme Hershey's, Reese's, Gummy Worms.

“I gave up wine. I gave up any liquor. Just to know you can give up things that you enjoy and have that willpower to continue to say, ‘No, I'm not doing it, I'm not doing it.' It just made me feel more in control of everything.”

The Warriors have relied on Draymond Green more than usual because of Kevin Durant's absence. The forward is expected to be a lockdown defender at all five positions, while also playing the role of distributor when Stephen Curry doesn't have the ball.

Overall, Green has had an excellent postseason, filling up the box score while playing heavy minutes. In the last two games of the Western Conference Finals, he got two triple-doubles as well as seven steals and three blocks. He played 82 of the possible 96 minutes.

Green's new slimmed-down physique has served him well thus far. He will need to be in peak shape to face Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors. Green will spend time defending Leonard, who has been an unstoppable offensive force this postseason, so we'll see if Draymond can help the Warriors slow Kawhi down.
