Draymond Green may have finished the 113-104 drubbing of the New Orleans Pelicans just one assist shy of a triple-double, but that was good enough for the Golden State Warriors' Swiss army knife to lock up an elusive franchise record as the first player in Warriors history to average a triple-double in an NBA playoff series.

Quite an amazing feat considering that the Warriors has had no shortage of triple-double-carving players in their lineage – since moving to the Bay Area, they had a rookie Chris Webber as well as forward Chris Mullin do it a couple of times. Even his Warriors teammates – notably Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry – have shown that they are capable of it too. If we stretch all the way back to their days as the Philadelphia Warriors, the field gets even wider which includes the monstrous Wilt Chamberlain and – the previous triple-double king and prior to the term even being coined – Tom Gola.

Speaking of Gola, he previously held the record for the most triple-doubles in franchise history with 20 before Green surpassed it in January this year with 21, breaking a 55-year streak. Coincidentally, this feat was achieved at the expense of the Houston Rockets, their upcoming Conference Finals opponent.

Most recently, Green also passed another Gola record a week ago with his 16-point, 15-rebound, and 11-assist effort against the Pelicans which gave him four triple-doubles, and the most in franchise playoff history.

With the Pelicans out of the picture, Green and the Warriors are on their way to the Toyota Center where the 6-foot-7 “Death Line-up” anchor looks to continue his string of efficient stat-stuffing. In three games against Houston, he averaged 15.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and just a shade under ten assists in just 34 minutes per game.
