Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green hinted that he is getting closer to his peak form following the Warriors’ win over the Detroit Pistons Saturday night.

Draymond Green didn’t have eye-popping statistics Saturday night, something that has been the norm in the shortened season. He punched in four points going 2 of 5 from the field, five rebounds, six assists, and one steal in just under 28 minutes.

Again, not a monster statistical night. But that’s never been his game. Draymond Green is the epitome of “you had to be there.”

Draymond Green does the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. Whether it’s bodying Blake Griffin off the block or setting the offensive down the court, Green’s impact is massive for this Warriors team.

But it would be nice to have that former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green, where he averaged 10 points, seven assists, and nearly eight rebounds.

Draymond Green said that his peak self is on its way in a couple of weeks.

“I think I'm like two to three weeks away,” he told the media after Golden State's win. “Just continuing to get in better shape. My speed is kind of getting there. I dunked the ball today. That was big time. I was really excited about that.

“I think that was my first one-foot dunk of the year. It's starting to come back. I talked to [general manager] Bob [Myers] about that tonight. It's coming.”

The Warriors would benefit greatly from Draymond Green returning to his former self, as the team is trying to fill the hole left by a season-ending Achilles injury to sharpshooter Klay Thompson. Former MVP Stephen Curry has been carrying the load averaging 27 points per game on 46-percent shooting from the field.

The Warriors and Draymond Green are currently eighth in the Western Conference, one game out of the fourth-place position currently occupied by the Denver Nuggets.
