Draymond Green knows a thing or two about what an MVP looks like. He's played alongside Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant on the Golden State Warriors, with three Maurice Podoloff trophies between them.

The current debate wages on between the same two big men who were seen as the frontrunners for last season's award: Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. Draymond Green, however, has a different pick in mind. According to the Warriors star, the frontrunner should be Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan.

As an aside, Green picked Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan as his MVP.

It's not exactly a bad pick by the Warriors star. The Bulls are currently tied for the top seed in the East with DeMar DeRozan firmly entrenched as their best player. He's having his best season ever at age-32, averaging a career-high 28.1 points on an unheard of 51.7% from the field for a perimeter scorer while also adding 5.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.

But while DeMar DeRozan is certainly a worthy candidate at this point, he's likely still trailing behind the two big men in Embiid and Jokic entering the NBA All-Star break. Draymond Green picked DeMar, but did have a glowing review ready for Nikola Jokic.

“Number one, he’s very difficult to cover on any part of the floor, whether it’s him handling the ball, shooting the ball, post up,” said Green, who has been out since Jan. 9 with a lower back injury and whose Warriors return timeline remains unclear. “Most guys who are that dominant, you want to send the double team, (but) he’s one of the best passers we have in the league, so he picks double teams apart. And you can’t give him the same look because he just picks teams apart. So I think the nimbleness and most importantly it’s his touch. When he gets the ball on the rim, it’s going in. I think that’s one of his best attributes is his touch.”

Nikola Jokic has certainly played like an MVP again this season. But oftentimes the previous winner has to overcome voter fatigue and clearly outperform the field, which includes both Embiid and DeRozan.
