Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been ruled out in Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after having reportedly gotten “banged up” during Tuesday’s game versus the Memphis Grizzlies.

Head coach Steve Kerr told the media prior to tip-off that Green was questionable though he “wants to play.” A few minutes later, however, it was confirmed that the all-around forward is out due to right heel soreness.

Green recorded a double-double during Tuesday’s win despite finishing with just eight points. Green, who has been moonlighting as the Warriors de facto starting point guard in the absence of D’Angelo Russell, led the team with 11 assists while adding 10 rebounds and two blocks across his 35 minutes on the floor.

He shot 4-for-12 from the field overall, lowering his shooting percentage on the season to 37.9 over his first 10 games.

Golden State’s injury woes in the first month of the season have been well documented. The team is playing Wednesday’s game without the services of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Damion Lee, Jacob Evans, Kevon Looney, Russell, and possibly Green. They have gotten off to a 3-12 start that has put them firmly on the outside of the Western Conference picture.

Green previously missed five games earlier in the season due to a finger injury. With him now out, rookie guard Ky Bowman would presumably re-enter the starting five, with Jordan Poole and Alec Burks likely to help out with ball-handling duties.
