Draymond Green didn't leave any stone unturned when talking at length about his relationship with Kevin Durant, full-knowing that the latter didn't choose to leave the Golden State Warriors because of him.

In a candid conversation with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson as part of the All The Smoke podcast, Green noted all Durant would have had to say to remain with the team.

Transcript per Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area:

“This is f***ing Kevin Durant we're talking about,” said Green. “Yeah, I've done great things here. But let me tell you this — if Kevin really wanted to be here, all he would have done is went to Bob and said, ‘Yeah, I'll stay. But Draymond gotta go.' And guess what — Bob Myers would have called me and said, ‘Draymond, I love you — and I won't trade you to a bad team — but where do you want to go?'”

Green wouldn't stay for slander nor accusations that his locker room spat with Durant sparked his exit from Golden State:

“So to try to point the finger and say, ‘Oh man, I left because of him.' Get the f*** outta here. I still love K. His feelings about me may not be the same. But I'll ride with him for the rest of my life. I got that type of love for that brother,” said Green. “But you ain't leave because of me. You're f***ing Kevin Durant. If you wanted to be here, I would have been out. I would have been long gone.

“And guess who would have understood that? (he points at himself). I understand the business of basketball … he ain't f***ing leave because of me. That's just the real.”

The Warriors could have signed Durant to another one-year deal, but if KD was looking for max money or close to it, Green would have been a casualty.

Durant admitted to knowing he would leave Golden State about halfway through the 2018-19 season, but Green likely knew that he had his mind made up to go somewhere else.
