The Golden State Warriors have faced plenty of trials in the first half of the season, as issues of chemistry and effort have plagued them in a pursuit of a third straight title. Yet Warriors forward Draymond Green, the team's resident vocal leader, claimed Kevin Durant's chemistry with Stephen Curry has reached a new level, as the recent pass out of a mismatch to feed Curry's hot hand resulted in the latest win against the Dallas Mavericks.

Golden State looked to get a Curry-Durant pick-and-roll going, a play reserved to close out games down the stretch. Durant was matched up against the 6-foot-3 rookie Jalen Brunson, boasting at least a six-inch advantage over the point guard.

Conventional wisdom screams for Durant to take the matchup and use his length to exploit it — but knowing Curry had led the Warriors' comeback in the fourth quarter, he passed out of it, letting Curry go to work with a taller Dorian Finney-Smith in the perimeter.

The result? Curry's 11th 3-pointer of the game, a 29-foot bomb that gave Golden State a 3-point lead, one they would keep after a Harrison Barnes late turnover and a pair of Curry free throws to salt it away.

“To know you got a mismatch and you’re probably the best scorer in the world, but you give the ball back because you see Steph got it going” said Green, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “That’s the type of play that wins championships.”

It was only a week ago that Golden State had lost an overtime encounter with the Houston Rockets, with Durant taking seven out of the last eight shots in regulation.

Those moments seem far in the past, as the two have found their groove in the last four games, now only a half game away from the Denver Nuggets for the top spot in the Western Conference.
