SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is having a fantastic year. He's playing some of the best basketball of his career, and it could earn him the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year Award at the end of the season. Green is a nightly problem to the opposition, and Steve Kerr explained why after defeating the Sacramento Kings on Monday.

“He's our emotional leader, obviously, but he's just so good defensively. He finds a way to get a blocked shot, to get a steal, to make the rotation that screws up the offensive possession, and then all of a sudden, we're getting out running and getting some momentum. He just has a knack for it. He’s been doing it a long time,” Kerr told ClutchPoints.

Green takes pride in disrupting the opposing team's offensive flow. When Green is playing great defensively, the Warriors are often hard to beat. If he has it going on the offensive side of the ball as he did against Sacramento, they are almost unbeatable.

The Warriors are winning games rapidly because of the play of superstar Stephen Curry and the leadership and defense of Green. If they both continue to play at this level, we could be watching the next MVP of the league and Defensive Player of the Year.

The Warriors' next game is on Thursday against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. The last time the two teams played inside the Chase Center, the Grizzlies left with a 104-101 overtime victory. They handed the Dubs their first loss of the season in the process.
