The Golden State Warriors showed massive confidence in Jonathan Kuminga in the NBA playoffs. Steve Kerr made him the youngest player ever to start a postseason game despite having other veterans he could have played. The entire franchise knows that they have someone special on their hands.

Draymond Green told Marc Spears of Andscape that Kuminga can be a perennial All-Star if he puts the work in. The young forward, who was drafted seventh overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season. Although becoming a perennial All-Star is a lofty goal, Green has a lot of faith in his rookie.

“He’s going to be really good,” Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green told Andscape. “He can be a perennial All-Star in this league. That’s up to him and the work he puts in. But he has the skills, the tools, he can see the floor, he has the opportunity if he puts the work in to be a perennial All-Star.”

Kuminga had himself a productive rookie season in a backup role, scoring 9.3 points per game and providing strong defense in 70 games. Several other Warriors players have spoken highly of Kuminga throughout the season. From Andre Iguodala to Klay Thompson, the Golden State veterans believe that their rookie has a lot of potential.

As the Warriors look to transition away from their aging stars, Kuminga and Jordan Poole will be the ones to take over and carry the team in the future. Even for the time being, the youngsters can help them win Game 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies and help them get back to the Western Conference Finals.
