Draymond Green knows just how long Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden has been waiting for a crack at an MVP award.
The Beard has been in the conversation for the last three seasons, first losing to Stephen Curry in 2014-15, then again in 2015-16, as Curry was named the first unanimous MVP, and most recently to Russell Westbrook, who had a historic season by toppling Oscar Robertson for his 55-year-old triple-double record.
This time around, Harden has all the arrows lined up, with the best overall record in the league, leading the league in scoring, and putting record-shattering numbers in games he's played in this season.
“It won't be long before he actually does pull through and wins one,” said Green of Harden, according to Melissa Rohlin of the San Jose Mercury News. “And then I know if you're him, you're sitting there like, oh man, here comes (Anthony Davis).”
Davis is indeed making his case for MVP, after railing off 10 straight wins and propelling his New Orleans Pelicans from barely hanging onto the playoff picture to fourth place in a very competitive race.
The Brow's numbers are also in his favor, going on a tear since the unfortunate injury to DeMarcus Cousins and taking his team by the reins.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers struggling in the East, Davis is rapidly coming up as a legitimate candidate, along with Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers — and barring injury, they could be next to give Harden a run for his money.
