Megan Rapinoe knows that Golden State Warriors defensive juggernaut Draymond Green has made headlines consistently over the last few weeks. It started with him saying he was the best defender of all time, and then for his comments on WNBA players' salaries.

After practice Thursday, Draymond Green doubled down on his statements after being criticized by Sue Bird's partner, soccer star Megan Rapinoe. She felt Green's comments were uneducated and unfortunate. Green gave a lengthy response regarding Rapinoe's remarks.

“It doesn't really matter to me how we get there. Or who thinks what's right to get there? Let's just get there,” Draymond Green said. “If that's us aligning and doing it, great if that's her working on her thing and I work on what I want to work on. Great, it doesn't have to be all under the same opinion.”

Draymond Green mentioned he felt his comments had been misconstrued and that he is 100% on the WNBA player's side. He spoke highly of WNBA star Candace Parker and discussed how she works hard in the offseason with the same people he gets his training with during that time.

Salaries of WNBA players is an issue that Draymond Green wants to fix, instead of being part of a problem or perceived as an obstacle to progress.

Draymond Green was respectfully unapologetic in his response, but he thinks this exchange with Rapinoe was positive.

“As long as we're both working towards the same result, I have no issues with that. So it was very encouraging to see that she (Rapinoe) did have an opinion. I don't take offense to her opinion at all,” Green said.

This exchange between Draymond Green and Megan Rapinoe occurs in the immediate aftermath of numerous controversies connected to the women's NCAA Tournament, all rooted in the NCAA failing to provide the same services and resources for the women as the men. This has amplified an awareness in the public square of imbalances in the treatment of male and female athletes during March Madness.
