Golden State Warriors president Rick Welts has apologized to Toronto Raptors boss Masai Ujiri for the controversial security encounter which took place during Game 6 of the 2019 Finals at Oracle Arena.

A Warriors security guard shoved Ujiri when the Raptors president was trying to enter the court for the team's championship celebration. The body camera footage released this week confirmed that the security guard was in the wrong.

This is a good gesture by Rick Welts, who is clearly embarrassed the incident took place at his building. The Raptors and NBA have had Masai Ujiri's back since this lawsuit began. The visual evidence which was presented earlier this week essentially cleared Ujiri of any wrongdoing.

The Warriors were under a lot of scrutiny during the 2019 Finals since Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry also had an incident with a Golden State investor in Game 3. Mark Stevens, a minority investor in the Warriors, was banned from attending anymore Finals games in 2019 after he pushed Lowry.

The Dubs now play at the Chase Center. Game 6 of the 2019 Finals was the final game ever played at Oracle Arena. That night was a rough evening all around, as not only did the Warriors lose the Finals and one of their security guards assaulted Ujiri, but superstar shooting guard Klay Thompson tore his ACL during the game as well. He missed the entire 2019-20 season as a result.
