Kevin McClain has agreed to a deal with the Golden State Warriors, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic. The Belmont University will play with Golden State in Summer League.

McClain burst onto the scene as a senior after spending the first two years of his collegiate career coming off the bench. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in 2018-19, a substantial improvement on his numbers as a junior when he first became a focal point for the Bruins. McClain's biggest improvement over the course of his college career came from beyond the arc. After shooting below 30 percent on threes each of his first two seasons, he took nearly six three-point attempts per game as a senior, connecting on a solid 36.6 percent of his tries.

At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, McClain has adequate size for a point guard, but would be stretched defensively playing off the ball at the next level. He'll team with fellow undrafted free agents Dedric Lawson from Kansas and Ky Bowman out of Boston College on the Warriors' Summer League squad, which is also poised to include late first-round pick Jordan Poole and second-rounders Alan Smailagic and Eric Paschall.

Golden State suddenly finds itself at a crossroads of sorts following devastating injuries to both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson during the NBA Finals, which the team lost in six games to the Toronto Raptors. Durant and Thompson are each free agents, too, while Quinn Cook and Jordan Bell are restricted free agents. Shaun Livingston, a crucial part of the Warriors' dynasty, is contemplating retirement, too.
