The Golden State Warriors are battered and bruised right now and the latest Warrior expected to miss some time is Draymond Green. Steve Kerr says the dynamic point forward will be sidelined on Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks and probably Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs with a lingering toe sprain. Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

“We decided to give him some time off. Don’t know how long it’ll be. The toe (sprain) is lingering.”

Slater also notes that Kerr said Alfonzo McKinnie will be out on Saturday as well. This limits Kerr's bench and puts the onus on Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to carry the load without Green or Stephen Curry in the lineup.

Green has dealt with some lingering health issues through camp and into the regular season. It's no surprise that he would need some more time off here and there.

But the timing is definitely curious. Durant and Green had an on the court confrontation that spilled over into the locker room after a recent loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Green was suspended by Golden State for his part in the altercation. After returning from that one-game suspension, the Warriors were run out of the gym by James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

This could be unrelated to the incident between Durant and Green, but the timing is curious. Golden State is uncharacteristically tumultuous this season, but this will be a distant memory if Kerr's squad can manage to get healthy and get back on track.
