Golden State Warriors big man Kevon Looney practiced on Wednesday prior to the team's Thursday tilt against the Boston Celtics, and the organization hopes he can return at some point during the current road trip, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Looney has been out of action since logging eight minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 23, missing the last 17 games with an abdominal issue.

It has been a nightmare season for Looney, who was bound to have a great opportunity after the Warriors signed him to a three-year, $15 million deal in the summer.

Besides the abdominal injury, he has also had a recurring hamstring neuropathic condition. He has participated in just 10 games this season and hasn't reached the 20-minute mark after an extended playoff run last season.

Looney dealt with hip injuries at the start of his career and put on weight during his injury-riddled first couple of seasons, ultimately turning it around after then-teammate Andre Iguodala suggested a change in his diet and a more rigorous workout regimen.

That proved to work wonders for Looney, who carved his way into the rotation and excelled for two years as one of Steve Kerr's most trusted bench cogs.

Looney recently changed to a gluten-free, pescatarian diet, as meat-free diets have shown to help neuropathy cases.

If the 6-foot-9 big man does return, it could be within any time in the next week, as the Warriors face their next four opponents on the road, starting with the Celtics on Thursday.
