It was revealed on Tuesday morning in a report from ESPN that nearly half of the league had not made any revenue last season.

The Golden State Warriors were among the 16 teams that had financial gains that saw them earn their second NBA title in the last three seasons. In fact, the Warriors reportedly generated $44.3 million their nine home games in the playoffs, which was more than double of what the Cleveland Cavaliers garnered in the postseason.

This an incredible amount of money made for playoff games, and another reason why it makes it so valuable for a franchise to reach the postseason. It is an extra set of games that the organization to earn millions of dollars that can be flipped toward bettering the organization.

In fact, this may be a huge reason why the Warriors are willing to spend into the luxury tax given the high level of profit they are making from the team's success in it. There is an extra incentive to keep their core group together for as long as they can in order to continue to generate these type of financial numbers.

The Warriors have a chance to remain in this window as a title contender for the next several seasons with their core players all in the primes of their careers. As for the Cavaliers, their financial gains are all on the shoulders of LeBron James. If he decides to leave next summer, so goes nearly all of the potential profit earned after due to the absence of his presence.
