Apparently, Golden State Warriors players did not know about the return of DeMarcus Cousins all that much sooner than we did.

According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Warriors players just learned of Cousins' upcoming return on Monday.

Cousins is set to return against the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 18. Originally, Cousins had considered making his comeback against his former New Orleans Pelicans club on Jan. 16, but it was ultimately decided that the 18th was the wiser option.

Cousins has been sidelined since the end of last January after rupturing his Achilles. At the time, the big man was a member of the Pelicans, who traded for him during the middle of the 2016-17 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings with the fifth overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft.

He spent the first six-and-a-half years of his career with the Kings, making two All-Star teams before being traded to the Pelicans. The deal actually occurred as Cousins was playing in his second All-Star Game.

Cousins then played in 48 games with New Orleans last year and was voted into the All-Star Game yet again before tearing his Achilles on Jan. 27. Prior to the injury, he was averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.6 steals over 36.2 minutes per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 35.4 percent from three-point range and 74.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors currently own a record of 26-14 and could certainly use some frontcourt help with Damian Jones out for the season due to a torn pectoral muscle.
