The Golden State Warriors made their only trip to Washington D.C. in the last two days, and did not visit the White House, like has become tradition for championship teams to do in the season after winning.

The Warriors didn't really want to go initially, but President Trump made sure of it by disinviting them after Stephen Curry said he might not want to go this time because of who was in office. Trump did not like that one bit.

But when the D.C. trip finally came, the Warriors didn't mention him once. They decided as a group not to make the trip about politics, per Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.

“We wanted to do something that would be impactful and something we wanted to share,” West said. “We wanted to give them an opportunity to experience that and experience us in that kind of environment would be most impactful.”

Kerr, West, Curry, Durant and the rest of the Warriors can talk politics and Trump whenever they want. This was not a matter of deferring to the “shut and dribble” crowd. On this trip, the focus was on kids, education and community service.

This wasn’t about Trump vs. the Warriors. Not Tuesday and Wednesday anyway.

The team spent the day at a museum with 40 kids from from an activity center near Kevin Durant's hometown. The Warriors wanted to make the day about community service, and they all said it was a great experience.

What is interesting is this whole thing started as a political statement, and was talked about on sports and news outlets alike. The Warriors could have decided to make it more political had they wanted.

But they instead chose to focus on the youth of the area and give back to them, which Trump would never do, probably. So that's a plus.
