There's no denying the fact that there's much more room for improvement in the United States when it comes to children's education, safety and welfare. In the city of Oakland, where it's been made notorious as one of the most dangerous cities in the state of California, a lot of kids are constantly in harm's way with or without their knowledge.

A very diverse ecosystem such as Oakland's, which people of various ethnicity and social classes call home, only breeds contempt among the unfortunate. And that's where the Golden State Warriors organization looks to remedy the looming problems endangering the youth of tomorrow.

The past weekend, Golden State's official Twitter page shared a touching video announcing the Warriors Community Foundation's goal of turning the team's Oakland practice facility into a safe house for kids down on their luck.

The Warriors Community Foundation is launching a partnership with Kaiser Permanente called Generation Thrive, which aims to “to lift up at-risk youth in the community.

Warriors president and COO Rick Welts had this to say about starting Generation Thrive taking over the team's practice facility:

“We are the Bay Area’s team – Oakland is a part of the fabric our organization and while we are leaving a building, we are not leaving a city.”

The Warriors have been hosting a basketball camp in the Oakland area since 2000, but this huge move to further focus on the development of children's education and well-being outside of basketball is nothing but a heartwarming and inspiring effort.
