The Golden State Warriors are guaranteed one of the top three picks in the 2020 NBA Draft later this fall. While the Dubs do not figure to select a point guard, LaVar Ball sincerely hopes they do not draft his son LaMelo Ball.

LaVar said the youngest Ball brother would not fit in Golden State because he would merely be a facilitator, rather than an orchestrator (via Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area).

“That's the part I don't like about Golden State,” LaVar Ball said of the Warriors  on the Say Less with Kaz podcast. “They got Klay and the other guys, and now you want to put Melo in that mix to say you got to follow these guys. Melo ain't no follower. He don't need to do what they do, let them do they thing.

“There's a reason you are looking at my son. He's talented and can play the game. It ain't that hard. Guy is open, and you pass it to them. You open and you been working on your shot? Shoot the ball. It's fast-paced, it's good. But don't be like Melo got to his turn and wait for two or three years to go by and learn from the veterans. Ain't about that. Can you play or not?

“And when you special, how do you coach somebody special? You just enjoy it, and they special because of the things they do. Enjoy it. Let him do what he does.”

LaMelo Ball spent this past season with the Illawarra Hawks of the National Basketball League in Australia. The decision to play overseas has paid dividends, as Ball is regarded as a top prospect in this year's draft class.

In fact, Sam Vecenie of The Athletic actually has Ball as the No. 1 player on his latest “Big Board.” Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz of ESPN also suggest the Warriors should consider taking Ball if they get the No. 1 pick, citing his size and vision at the point guard spot.

But LaVar hopes, for his son's sake, the Warriors end up with Anthony Edwards or James Wiseman.
