The days of KeyArena in Seattle are numbered. Its demolition is inevitable, with a new arena set to be built as its replacement. But before any wrecking ball pounds it, KeyArena will see one of its former celebrated tenants grace its hardwood for the last time, with Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors scheduled to play a preseason game there against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 5.

The game is roughly a month away from today, but tickets to that game are now nearly sold out, according to the Warriors via Chris Daniels of K5 News.

Despite the match being just an exhibition, Seattle basketball fans have no problem shelling out money for the tickets. Nostalgia sells, after all. But beyond that, Seattle has been longing for its own basketball team ever since the Seattle SuperSonics franchise relocated to Oklahoma City and got rebranded into the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008.

Durant caught the tail end of Seattle’s NBA existence, as he played his rookie season in the city. The lanky 19-year-old forward out of the Texas Longhorns program averaged 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 80 games for the Sonics back in the 2007-08 season. Now, he’s coming back a two-time champion and a one-time MVP with a chance to give his old stomping grounds a proper send-off.
