Gary Payton II hasn't had the career that his Hall-of-Fame father did, but he's one win away with the Golden State Warriors from something the OG GP never did in 17 NBA seasons – win a ring.

With Gary Payton II on the precipice of being the first NBA champion in their family, The Glove made sure to dedicate a heartfelt tribute video and message to his son.

The younger Payton isn't winning a title while simply riding on the coattails of other players. He's actually making an impact for a Warriors team that desperately needs defense and dirty work from the guard spots.

With Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole solely focused on scoring and playmaking, mixing in Gary Payton II has been a huge boon for Steve Kerr in the Warriors rotation.

Payton played a huge role in Golden State's Game 5 win over the Celtics, pouring in 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three steals.

Gary Payton II has found a home in The Bay. If he comes up big in Game 6 and potentially 7 if need be, he'll likely be staying for a long time.
