With the Golden State Warriors already out of the picture in the NBA restart, Klay Thompson won't need to be rushed back to the court after suffering a season-ending injury last year.

Thompson previously tore his left ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the eventual champion Toronto Raptors. Klay originally suffered the setback exactly on June 13, 2019 before undergoing surgery on July 2, so the superstar marksman would encounter an 18-month layoff if the 2020-21 regular season were to begin in December.

Based on recent reports, it appears Thompson will be more than ready to go. However, for former Warriors guard Tim Hardaway, he predicts Klay will play better than ever after a long rest and recovery period.

“With Klay — him being off for a year and a half, I think this rejuvenated his career,” Hardaway said of the Warriors star during an appearance on 95.7 The Game, via NBC Sports. “No question [it] rejuvenated his career. He can sit down and not come back until December, and everybody is gonna be fresh at that particular time.

“At his level, the only thing he has to do is maintain. Oh man — that's ideal for a player now, especially at his age.”

Klay Thompson was not the only notable Warriors player to go down with a serious injury this season, though. His Splash Bro. Stephen Curry also missed a lengthy portion of the 2019-20 regular season due to a lingering hand injury.

Hopefully though, the two players will indeed return at full health when the 2020-21 season starts back up.
