Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was an executive with the Phoenix Suns while Steve Nash was on the team. Kerr frequently saw flashes of Nash in his current guard Stephen Curry, whom the Warriors drafted in 2009 while Kerr and Nash were still in Phoenix.

On the latest episode of the Runnin' Plays pod with NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors reporter Logan Murdock, Kerr talked about the similarities between Curry and Nash. Kerr used a surfing story to illustrate his point, explaining that Nash was able to pick up surfing almost immediately when the two did it together.

Like Nash, Curry can pick things up real quick and succeed at them:

“Nash and Steph are exactly the same way,” the Warriors coach said. “You put a ball on a stick in their hand, whatever needs to be done, they're going to figure out a way to do it.”

Curry and Nash have two MVP awards in the trophy cases at home. Unfortunately, Nash wasn't able to win a title during his Hall of Fame career. Meanwhile, Curry has won three championships with the Warriors ever since Kerr joined the team in 2014.

Nash and Curry are two of the best shooters and overall point guards in NBA history. Nash finished his career with averages of 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 8.5 assists while shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 42.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 90.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Curry was only able to play in five games for the Warriors this season due to a broken left hand. The 2019-20 season wound up getting suspended on March 11 after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.

The Warriors had the worst record in the NBA before the season was put to a halt.
