Klay Thompson is ever so close to making his long-awaited return to the court for the Golden State Warriors. The Splash Brother has been scrimmaging once again and has Stephen Curry pretty excited to see his co-star nearly back.

But while Klay Thompson seems to be making immense strides towards his NBA season debut, which has been pegged for around Christmas Day, James Wiseman still has yet to progress at the same rate. The big man had surgery for a torn meniscus nearly eight months prior.

In the latest update from Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Wiseman has still not progressed beyond individual drills despite being at that level already for quite some time.

Via The Athletic:

“Umm. Where are we — December 6th?” Steve Kerr said. “So, he hasn’t scrimmaged yet. By the time he comes back and scrimmages, it’s going to take some time from there. You guys can do the math. I don’t want to be a headline.”

With the Warriors rolling the way that they have been this season, it has taken the pressure off of Klay Thompson and James Wiseman to rush back from their respective injuries. Getting them back to 100% is imperatively more important than having them return earlier than expected.

But the fact that James Wiseman still seems far removed from a return date is at least somewhat concerning, given he had been cleared for individual drills weeks back. Getting to scrimmage in a five-on-five setting like Thompson is the next step. Until that happens, his return from injury won't get any closer just yet.

At the end of the day, the Warriors taking a cautious approach on James Wiseman is a good thing. All will be forgotten when he inevitably makes his return to help Golden State's title run — hopefully completely healthy.
