The 2007 Golden State Warriors team will always be remembered for revitalizing its franchise forever. They finished off the season with a record of 42-40 and eighth seed in the Western Conference standings. In the playoffs, the Warriors did the unthinkable by eliminating the No. 1 seed Dallas Mavericks, which was the first such upset in a best-of-seven NBA series.

In a recent appearance on The HoopsHype Podcast, NBA veteran Jason Richardson spoke out about the 2007 Warriors team.

 That team was probably one of the closest teams that I was on. I think the next-closest team where the guys really got along was my Phoenix team in 2010. But that We Believe team was so special because, like I said, nobody gave us a chance.

At the time, I was coming off an injury and a lot of people were saying that I was overpaid and wasn’t worth it. We all had to band together and fight for each other. We were trying to prove that we could do this, especially with the way we played. All of us were small, we were in your face, we shot a lot of threes, but we also played defense. It was incredible.

Aside from the Warriors lineup, their fans established themselves as one of the best fanbases in the NBA. Unfortunately, the Warriors “cinderella story” came to a halt in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Utah Jazz eliminated them in five games. Nevertheless, the 2007 “We Believe” team will also be remembered in franchise history.
