The Golden State Warriors will have shooting guard Jimmer Fredette suit up for their Summer League roster after the veteran journeyman returned from a successful stint in China, assistant general manager Larry Harris told 95.7 The Game.

Fredette returned from overseas and signed with the Phoenix Suns late in the season, playing in six contests with the team.

His return in this short stint was disappointing, to say the least, as the record-smashing BYU product shot a baffling 27.6% from the floor and missed all 13 of his 3-point attempts — his main call for returning to the NBA.

The Warriors are in dire need of shooting this upcoming season, hence why they've felt the need to enter Jimmer territory this early in the offseason.

Golden State is hoping to find gold with Summer League and training camp invitees, much like they did with Alfonzo McKinnie last season in the wake of the Patrick McCaw holdout to start 2018-19.

More importantly, the Warriors are hoping to find shooting for cheap, a skill that is recently going for a premium in the league — now that Klay Thompson will be out for at least eight months, should he re-sign with the team next month.

Fredette has some upside as a deep bench option, but it's been made abundantly clear that the defense he's faced in China is nowhere near the type of rigor that he's seen upon returning to the NBA.

Prior to his six-game trial stint with the Suns, Fredette played 50 games with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2014-15 as a deep reserve averaging 3.6 points per game, before splitting six games between the Big Easy and the New York Knicks the following season, which caused his imminent departure from the league.
