Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob says the Dubs have “much more revenue” than the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors rank third in the NBA in franchise valuation, according to Forbes. The Knicks at $4.6 billion and Lakers at $4.4 billion are worth more than the Warriors at $4.3 billion, but Lacob says Forbes is more of a general indicator:

“Forbes is more of a general indicator. Its revenue estimates are understated for Golden State,” Lacob told Bill Shea of The Athletic. “We have much more revenue than the Knicks and Lakers.

“These are all estimates. I have no idea how they come up with these numbers. I’ve heard they talk to people at the NBA and maybe certain teams. Maybe (they’re accurate) on a relative basis in terms of the values. On an absolute basis, that’s up for debate.”

Forbes estimated that the Warriors generated $440 million in revenue for the 2018-19 season versus $472 million for the Knicks and $434 million for the Lakers.

The Warriors were valued at $188 million when Lacob bought the franchise for $450 million. Golden State won three titles in five years after hiring Steve Kerr in the summer of 2014.

The Warriors will miss the playoffs this season for the first time in the Kerr era. Injuries humbled the Dubs this season.

However, the Warriors should be playoff contenders again next season when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green all take the floor together.
