Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters like to think that he’s the best NBA player in the game today. If it was up to him, he’d probably elect himself to the basketball Hall of Fame right now. That’s just how much belief Waiters has of his skills.

Although Dion Waiters’ boundless confidence can rub some people the wrong way, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant doesn’t have any issues with it. Speaking with a group of reporters just before the Warriors played the Heat on the road Sunday, the former league MVP candidly spoke about his old teammate, even joking that he’s anxious about having to guard “Ball Hard Waiters” and that he owns a mansion on “Waiters Island”.

“I'm super nervous. I gotta guard ‘Ball Hard' Waiters. He's playing great basketball, I'm so proud of him.

I got a mansion, I own some property on Waiters Island. It's just me, just me and him that live there. He knows what it is.”

It could be recalled that Kevin Durant and Dion Waiters were teammates for a year and a half in Oklahoma City, and over that short period of time, the two have developed a special bond.

Waiters signed a four-year $52 million back in the offseason with the Heat after declining to pick up a $3.03 million player option. The former Syracuse Orange has found an NBA home in Miami, where he is currently averaging 15.6 points and 3.8 assists per game this season.

The Warriors went on to win the game with Durant having 24 points and seven assists to Waiters' four markers.
