Good news hit as Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant was formally announced as GQ's Champion of the Year that is an honor within itself, but even more special due to the fact of who he's in company with as a result.

Former Bay Area San Francisco 49er star in Colin Kaepernick was also named to the cover of GQ on the short list of Men of the Year.

After the Warriors shootaround prior to the matchup against the Orlando Magic, the former MVP met with members of the media at the practice facility to answer questions about the game and to also hear what his feelings were about being named on the same cover as Kaepernick.

After a successful season last year winning his first NBA championship and having a strong start to this season, Durant is counting his blessings and appreciates being on the cover with someone in the company of Kaepernick.

Kaepernick has obviously become a controversial figure but remains in headlines even after spending a year out of the NFL. Durant himself thinks highly of the quarterback and the stance he has taken on equal rights, including donating funds, spending time educating youth and becoming a focal point for fighting injustice.

The two men also share the cover with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Stephen Colbert.

The section which covers the 6'10 forward tackles topics such as the Warriors, Jay-Z's last album, hitting a game-winner over LeBron James, his infamous Twitter troubles, Rhianna and more.
