Kevin Durant is part of a Golden State Warriors team trying to make history by becoming only the fourth franchise in NBA history to win three straight championships. The Dubs are currently the Western Conference's best team with a 41-15 record, and the two-time Finals MVP is a large part of the team's success.

However, before Durant, or even the Splash Brothers (Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson) turned the Warriors into one of the greatest teams ever, somebody else was trying to do that for the franchise.

Baron Davis.

Back in 2007, the Warriors were just a mid-tier team in the league. They weren't good enough to win the title, but they weren't too bad either. However, Davis made the Bay Area fans believe 11 years ago when he led them into the playoffs.

The eighth-seeded Warriors faced the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs that year. The Mavs were coming off an NBA Finals loss against the Miami Heat a year before, and they were eager to get back to the grandest stage. They were expected to make quick work of the Dubs.

However, the Davis-led Warriors had other plans in mind, and to make the long story short, they were able to pull an upset by beating the Mavs 4-2 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.

The Warriors faced the Utah Jazz in the second round, a series that they eventually lost, but not without a memorable highlight from Davis:

Coincidentally, the current Warriors team faced the Jazz on Tuesday night, and the Dubs decided to honor Davis' dunk against Andrei Kirilenko back in 2007.

Durant was asked if he remembered the gritty Warriors team from 2007:

It's safe to say that although the 2007 Warriors team didn't have grand success in terms of winning a title, they are clearly one of the most memorable squads in the franchise's history.

Hardcore Dubs fans will never forget what Davis did for the city.
