Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told local reporters on Saturday star small forward Kevin Durant will “most likely” return to the lineup on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs.

Durant is dealing with a right ankle contusion. He will miss his second consecutive game on Saturday against his old team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 65 games this season for the Warriors, Durant is averaging 27.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest. The 10-time All-Star and two-time Finals MVP is shooting 51.3 percent from the floor, 35.9 percent from beyond the arc and 88.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Golden State enters Saturday with the best record in the Western Conference at 46-21.

The playoffs are about a month away. The Warriors need Durant to be 100 percent for the postseason if they want to capture their third-straight title. Playing it safe with KD is the right thing to do, especially since Golden State has four other All-Stars in the starting lineup in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins and Draymond Green.

Durant can become an unrestricted free agent this summer once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Warriors. No one really knows what KD is going to do. Golden State just has to hope he decides to come back and continue this dynasty they are building.
