No matter how the 2018 NBA Finals ends, J.R. Smith’s blunder at the end of regulation in Game 1 will forever live in infamy. Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant surely did not want Nick Young to commit a bonehead mistake of his own, which was why the former league MVP gave Young a clear advice near the end of the first quarter of Game 3 Wednesday night to not foul anyone from the Cavs in order to keep Cleveland from getting cheap shots at the foul line.

Smith and Young could be described as having kindred spirits, as both have the tendency of committing Shaqtin’ A Fool-quality errors in any given game. So far, Smith has the advantage in his matchup with Young in terms of bloopers. After all, Smith’s gaffe in the opening game of the series is unlikely to be topped by Young – or by anyone from either side.

Young and the Warriors are looking to go up 3-0 in the series against Cleveland. Getting there could virtually mean another championship for Golden State, as no team in the history of the NBA has ever come back to win a series after falling behind three games to none.

A title this year for the Warriors would also mean that Nick Young is finally an NBA champion – just like Smith.
