Kevin Durant is truly a one-of-a-kind player, so it makes sense that he also has a unique approach to his NBA career. This offseason will be a pivotal moment in his tenure with the league, as KD is set to be the number one free agent on the market and where he goes, much like his decision to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016, will have a ripple effect felt by all 30 teams.

During a Q&A with NBC Sports’ Kerith Burke, Durant was asked about what he feels he wants to accomplish in his career, to which he responded with this:

“It's more so, what else do I want to experience? How do I see myself playing on a possession-by-possession basis, do you know what I’m saying? That’s what I’m looking forward to. How can I be the best version of myself every time I get on the court?”

For Durant, there isn’t much else left to accomplish. In his 12 seasons in the NBA, he has managed to rack up quite the list of accolades.

Upon entering the league, Durant won Rookie of the Year award in his first season. By his third season, he was playing the playoffs, but fell to Kobe Bryant’s Lakers in the first round. In just his fourth season in the league, though, he brought his team to the Western Conference Finals, losing to the Dallas Mavericks who would continue their way onto a championship. The following season, a 23-year-old Durant was playing in the NBA finals.

KD has led the league in scoring four times in his career, including putting up 30.1 points per game in the 2009-10 season. Among all active players in the NBA, he is tied with LeBron James for best career points per game average at 27.15. At the end of 2013-14 season, Durant took home the Most Valuable Player award. He has also added two All-Star game MVP’s and two Finals MVP’s to the trophy case.

For the two-time champion, achievements may not be the best way to judge his career moving forward. With a decked out trophy case already, making a decision that puts him in the best place emotionally and in terms of how he feels on the court may be what dictates Durant’s decisions surrounding his free agency.
