Golden State Warriors superstar small forward Kevin Durant can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019 if he declines his 2019-20 player option. Some believe Durant might leave the Warriors if he wins his third-straight championship this season to embark on a new challenge.

Kevin Durant and the Warriors are in New York right now, as they take on the Knicks Friday night at Madison Square Garden. In typical New York fashion, the city put up a massive billboard recruiting Durant to The Big Apple.

Kevin Durant, when asked about the billboard by reporters, says he's not that impressed by it, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

The Knicks are obviously desperate to sign a superstar player to pair alongside power forward Kristaps Porzingis. The franchise will potentially have money to sign two max contract players next offseason.

Kevin Durant is about winning, though, not superficial and material things like the Knicks have been associated with over the past few years.

The Knicks have a long way to go before they can be considered a contender, even in the East. Yes, adding Kevin Durant would make them instantly better, but the culture of the organization is still up in the air. The hope is that new head coach David Fizdale can turn things around internally.
