The Golden State Warriors are heading into the NBA All-Star break with a loss, but not before witnessing Kevin Durant go off for 50 points. The Warriors were at Moda Center in Portland Wednesday night, looking to extend their three-game win streak, but were instead handed a 123-117 loss by the Portland Trail Blazers despite the monster effort from the 2014 league MVP.

Nevertheless, Durant’s performance in that game was a memorable one, as it was the first time since he became a Warrior in 2016 that he reached the 50-point mark in a contest. Durant was cooking all night long in Portland, connecting on 17 of his 27 shots from the field with six three-pointers on 14 attempts from behind the arc. He was also perfect from the charity stripe, making all of his 10 free throw shots. He further stuffed the stat sheets with seven rebounds, six assists, and two blocks.

It was just that kind of night for Durant, who exploded for 18 points in the third quarter to help the Warriors cut down the Blazers’ lead down to five games after starting the second half trailing by 12 points.

Compressed in a Warriors team that already has lights-out scorers in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, a 50-point game had long eluded Durant until Wednesday night, when Golden State needed every point against a very game Blazers team.

The last time Durant, whose career high is 54 points,  had a 50-point game, he was still wearing Oklahoma City Thunder threads. That was back in 2014 when he poured in 51 points in a win over the Toronto Raptors on the road, per ESPN Stats & Info.

On the season, Durant is averaging 25.5 points on 51.9 field goal shooting percentage.
