Rumors have been swirling about Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant for months now. Most NBA pundits believe that the ten-time All-Star is destined to leave Golden State in the offseason, and look to start a new dynasty elsewhere. These whispers were addressed by Durant when a reporter referred to the Warriors play as “their play” and was quickly corrected by the star:

Durant insisted that the media has consistently portrayed the team as “The Warriors and KD”, instead of a cohesive unit.

It's true that Durant's transition to the Warriors wasn't viewed positively by many NBA fans and analysts. Even though he helped the Warriors win two championships, many felt as if he took a shortcut to the rings by hopping on an already excellent team.

Stephen Curry is still the face of the team. Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala will always be beloved in the Bay. Durant, for all of his excellent play, doesn't usually conjure the same kind of admiration as the guys who have been there from the start.

Still, Durant is fighting the perception that he was just an addition to a dominant team. As the Warriors show that they are still capable of winning without him through the playoffs, he will have to fight the negativity even more. Only time will tell if he is in the same situation when next season begins.
