The Golden State Warriors picked up a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, moving them back into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference standings. However, for Kevin Durant, that doesn't really matter.

The seeding is largely just a number for the Warriors, which Durant just as much confirmed following Tuesday's win, stressing the importance of how the team was playing over where they were seeded.

“One seed, two seed; we were the two seed last year. Started off on the road in the Western Conference Finals, won Game 1,” Durant said, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “It's about playing great basketball. I think everyone's in a great rhythm. I think that's way more important.”

While Durant was correct in pointing out that the Warriors won Game 1 against the Houston Rockets on the road last season, the team also had to erase a 3-2 series deficit — with Game 7 coming in Houston. The Dubs won that one as well, but having home-court advantage for a potential Game 7 seems more advantageous than where the series opens.

Golden State has been pushed in the standings this season primarily by the Denver Nuggets. There's just half a game separating the two clubs with roughly less than a month remaining in the season, but ultimately, it appears likely one of the two will grab the top spot.

As Kevin Durant mentioned, it may not matter where they play, as evidenced by the 142 points that the Warriors dropped in Denver back on Jan. 15. That, too, was great basketball.
