Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant isn't as universally hated for his decision to join the superteam as it may seem. He probably even gained some cool points with his recent statement regarding all of the latest POTUS controversies.
In fact, Prince George County declared Aug. 17 Kevin Durant Day as part of a homecoming welcome celebration for the DC area native in honor of winning his first NBA Championship. The surrounding communities held a victory parade for the NBA champion to honor him complete with a line of cars, marching bands, and a planned festival that postponed due to city safety permit, security, and vendors.

The city maintains the celebration will go on as planned along with a concert when all plans are completed. The parade wasn't as big as what you may see during nationally televised events, but how many athletes can boast of having their own personal parade, to begin with?

This, of course, doesn't hurt any recruiting efforts of the 6'9 forward whom the Wizards have been trying to lure back home for some time. The probability of that happening is extremely low once Durant's current contract ends, but stranger things have happened.
