It was definitely not the start the Golden State Warriors were hoping for on Thursday night, as they suffered an ugly defeat against a surging Los Angeles Clippers side, 141-122. To make matters worse, the Dubs lost starting big man Kevon Looney after the 23-year-old was forced to exit the contest early on with an apparent hamstring injury, and he's not sure if he'll have to miss time.

This was not the first we've heard of this injury, with Looney struggling with a hamstring issue since the preseason. The 6-foot-9 center recovered in time for the team's opening matchup, but would only last a total of 10 minutes before he was forced to sit out the remainder of the contest due to what the Warriors are labeling as hamstring tightness.

For his part, team head coach Steve Kerr admitted that losing Looney was a significant blow for their side:

“That obviously hurt us,” Kerr said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Looney did a great job in the first half and defensively, without him, we really struggled.”

The good news here is that according to the Warriors' report, Looney did not appear to suffer any serious injury. His withdrawal from the contest was more for precautionary reasons, so we're hoping that he is able to recover sooner rather than later.

Then again, it is worth noting that hamstring issues have a tendency to linger, so for Golden State's sake, let's hope that this is nothing more than a minor tweak. Looney finished Thursday's contest with three points, nine rebounds, and an assist.
