The departure of Kevin Durant over the summer coupled with Stephen Curry's hand injury early in the season resulted in nothing less than a catastrophic 2019-20 campaign for the Golden State Warriors. However, what some folks might fail to realize was how significant the loss of Klay Thompson had been for the squad.

This is exactly what Dubs assistant coach Jarron Collins discussed in a recent appearance on NBC's “Runnin' Plays Podcast.” The coach could not help but emphasize how important Thompson is for the team, especially when you factor what Collins believes to be the All-Star shooting guard's best attribute.

“The best thing about Klay — he's all heart — he just lets his game talk,” Collins said of the Warriors sharpshooter, via Josh Schrock of NBC Sports. “Nothing really seems to faze him. He's just right out there letting his game talk on both ends of the floor, getting after it. Like I said, it's an honor and really a privilege to coach these guys and work with these guys.”

Klay Thompson is widely considered as one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA. However, in Collins' mind, this is only secondary to the unbridled mentality Thompson possesses.

Thompson suffered a torn ACL during the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors and has been sidelined since then. The Warriors have missed the services of their sharpshooting two-guard, and it is undeniable that his absence has had an adverse effect on the team's performance this season.

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, and he should be one hundred percent healthy by the start of the new season.
